Vinatex announces new production complex ahead of TPP

State-owned Vietnamese textile manufacturer Vinatex announced at the start of 2015 that it intends to build a fibre, weaving, dyeing and finished garment production complex in Que Son District in the central province of in Quang Nam this year, investing more than $70 million.

Deputy general director, Tran Van Pho, said in comments to local media that Vinatex wanted to step up its production capacity in the central region of Vietnam in preparation for wide-ranging trade agreement the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP).

He estimated that the new Que Son facility will have the capacity to produce 25 million finished garments per year.

TPP proposes free trade among Australia, Brunei, Chile, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam.
