New Oeko-Tex boss wants to 'better align' with textile supply chain
The Oeko-Tex Association has named textile engineer Georg Dieners as its new general secretary.
His predecessor, Dr Jean-Pierre Haug, will concentrate on the technical committees within the association and on his role as COO of the Swiss Textile Testing Institute, Testex.
Mr Diener said: "In view of the growing importance of the topic of sustainability, Oeko-Tex is concerned with better aligning its product portfolio to the needs of all players in the textile value creation chain.
"To ensure that brands, manufacturers and retailers gain the most benefit from our services, we want to further strengthen the contact we have with our customers and to better address interested companies searching for suitable modules for the implementation of their sustainability strategy.
"However, both can only be successful if one can devote oneself fully to the task. For this reason, Oeko-Tex has, for the first time, employed a specialist hired exclusively for this position who will manage the commercial operations of the association."
Mr Dieners was previously director of product management at workwear specialist LHD Group in Cologne.
