First commercial Tersus machine on its way to Patagonia

Denver-based CO2Nexus, developer of Tersus, a system that uses liquid carbon dioxide as a solvent for cleaning, disinfecting and coating fabrics and textiles, has shipped the first commercial Tersus machine to Patagonia.

CO2Nexus says it wants “to educate the market on the risks of water-based processing and the rewards of the carbon dioxide alternative”.

The first commercial Tersus machine is now on its way to Patagonia’s factory in Reno, Nevada. It will contribute to the outdoor brand’s Common Threads Initiative, which encourages consumers to reduce consumption by repairing, reusing, and recycling gear.

In April 2014, Patagonia became an investor in CO2Nexus.
