Fresh performance fabrics from US manufacturer

US-based SAS Textiles has developed a new collection of synthetic performance fabrics for athletic and outdoor brands, including fine-gauge stretch fabrics and technical top weights.

The company stocks 3 million pounds of yarn, including recycled polyester, organic and recycled cotton, and Lenzing’s Tencel, and is a partner in a cut-and-sew facility in Tijuana, Mexico, which is capable of shipping 50,000 sportswear pieces a week.

“Our knitting capabilities, including single and double jerseys, stripers, electronic jacquards, mini-jacs, fleeces, terries, and sweater knits, allow us to create performance fabrics that go beyond the basics, including hard-to-find structures such as meshes and spacers,” said CEO Sean Sassourian.

“Our made-in-the-USA fabrics are ideal for CAFTA programs as well as for super-quick turns at our Tijuana facility, which is only 100 miles away from our headquarters,” added Uwe Heintel at SAS.

Founded in 1992, SAS recently moved to a new 165,000 square feet facility, and currently has 133 circular knitting machines, capable of producing half a million pounds per week at full capacity.
