40,000 eye injuries per year in US sports

Sports accessories brand Wiley X has said its range of protective eyewear includes suitable for use in a wide range of sports and can help prevent injuries to athletes of all abilities.

Moreover, the company has said sports participants suffer around 40,000 eye injuries each year in the US alone.

The company’s co-owner, Myles Freeman, said in a recent statement: “It’s not just obvious sports like basketball or soccer that present dangers. Eye injuries can occur during a round of golf, a friendly tennis match or a game of beach volleyball. Even non-competitive outdoor sports like mountain biking, skateboarding or rollerblading can result in serious eye injuries.”
