OrganoClick’s green DWR makes “sustainable catwalk” contribution
Swedish textile technology OrganoClick supplied its fluorocarbon-free durable water-resistant (DWR) solution to a tailor-made outfit made by designer Karolina Nilsson for a Swedish sustainable fashion event, Almedalen. She presented the garments, a vest and trousers (with matching man-bag), at a special seminar called ‘The World’s Most Sustainable Catwalk’.

Ms Nilsson’s suit was made from recycled polyester produced in Taiwan by Chang-Ho Fibres. The Taiwanese textile manufacturer used green post-consumer bottles from soft drinks brand Seven-Up, collected by a local charity, the Tzu Chi Foundation. Karolina Nilsson opted to use the green colour the bottles gave the recycled polyester in her design to make dyeing unnecessary.

OrganoClick’s business manager for performance textiles, Robin Grankvist, said after the event: “By using biodegradable and non-toxic chemistry in our products we can be sure that we cause no environmental problems, which long-chain fluorocarbons do.”

His company introduced its alternative DWR technology at the start of 2014, with Chang-Ho Fibers one of the earliest adopters.
