The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) has set up a People and Culture Department, which it says is “designed to drive creativity and business sustainability in member companies through happier, more diverse, and inclusive workplaces”.

Executive director Deanne Buck explained: “When we draw on the skillset of a workforce that reflects the diversity of our participant base, we are better able to understand and meet the needs of the consumer. Our goal is to help companies recruit and retain top-tier talent which will ultimately create healthy, sustainable companies and inclusive working environments for all.”

OIWC has hired Aparna Rajagopal-Durbin the director of the department and Dr Jennifer Boldry, from Breakaway Research Group, as “research provider of record”.

The department will develop a suite of assessment tools, work with member companies to develop best practices and examine the impact of these on the bottom line.
