Growth for Cambodian clothing and footwear in Q1

17/07/2015
Cambodia’s apparel and footwear sector registered exports with a value of almost $1.5 billion in the first quarter of 2015, a year-on-year increase of close to 8%.

As in previous reporting periods recently, manufacturers in Cambodia have said the strongest demand for their services in the three-month period came from Europe.

On learning of the result, Ken Loo, head of the Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia, warned his member companies not to become complacent. The Cambodian government raised the minimum wage this year and Mr Loo said this may affect results for the rest of 2015.
