Rieter to reduce production and employee numbers in Switzerland

Swiss textile machinery manufacturer Rieter has said a decision earlier this year to streamline production of its machines in its home country. Instead, Rieter has invested in adding to its production capacities in China and India.

It will reduce its workforce at its headquarters in Winterthur from 850 at the moment to 150 by 2017 and has begun already a consultation exercise inviting employees there to take early retirement rather than redundancy.
