Rieter’s orders on the increase

21/07/2016
Textiles machinery maker Rieter reported a 52% increase in order intake for its machinery business in the first half of 2016. This growth was led by large orders for spinning systems since the end of 2015.

Rieter’s total order intake increased 32% to CHF 510.7 million ($517.5 million) during the period, with sales of machines and systems making up CHF 343.4 million ($348 million) of the total.

Rieter recorded its largest volume of orders for the first half of 2016 from Turkey following considerable interest at the ITM textile machinery trade fair in Istanbul in June. This will be reflected in sales revenues for the second half of the year.

Sales were strong in Asian countries (excluding China, India and Turkey) with Bangladesh, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Indonesia the most important markets in the region. Sales to China were up 69% compared to the same period of 2015, with Xinjiang province, where government investment is helping expand the textile industry, generating more than half of the revenue from the country.
