The minimum wage in the region around Indonesian capital Jakarta is set to rise by almost 15% next year.

A cross-industry remuneration council for Jakarta met at the end of October and decided the minimum wage for 2016 should rise to $213 per month, 14.8% more than current levels. The change still needs to be ratified by the governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.

The region is home to a large number of sports footwear and apparel producers, many of whom work as outsource manufacturers for major international brands.
