Sports clothing and footwear retail group JD Sports has reported revenues of £1.8 billion for the year ending January 31. This represents an increase of 20% year on year, and profits were up 45% to £131 million.

This is JD Sports’ second consecutive year of double-digit growth.

Executive chairman, Peter Cowgill, told BBC Radio that athleisure was driving much of the growth for the UK group. He said: “We have a focused proposition based on the move towards sports, athelticism and leisurewear all combining as a trend. It’s been an increasing trend over recent years.”
