Madagascar to welcome Origin Africa trade fair

15/06/2016
Origin Africa, an international trade fair focused on textiles and clothing and dedicated to improving African cotton, textile and apparel trade, will be held in Madagascar for the first time in November.

The announcement was made by Eva Razafimandimby, executive director of the Madagascar Export Processing Zone Association, who said she hopes it will help revive the country’s textile industry, which has been negatively affected by global financial difficulties and the suspension of Madagascar’s eligibility for the US African Growth Opportunity Acts (AGOA) in January 2010.

Origin Africa has previously taken place in Ethiopia and Kenya and this year’s edition will be co-organised by the Africa Cotton & Textile Industries Federation (ACTI) and the Madagascar Export Processing Zone Association.
