The Peruvian textile and apparel industry provides jobs for more 250,000 people, according to Magali Silva, the country’s minister of foreign trade and tourism. She was speaking at the opening of the 12th Textile Exporters’ Forum.

“We produce one of the world's finest cotton varieties, such as Peruvian Pima, also included among Peru's flagship products,” said Ms Silva at the event organised by Peru's Exporters Association (Adex). She added that 80% of the world’s fine alpaca fibres are produced in Peru.
