Garment workers in Cambodia may accept wage cut
19/09/2016
The Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia initially asked for a $4.20 increase to the country's monthly minimum wage, which would take it to $144.20. On top of the minimum wage, workers get additional allowances for travel and food.
Recent reports, however, say the association is now open to suggestions that the pay level might go down instead of up “to protect the industry”, although sources in Cambodia have told sportstextiles that workers would be very unlikely to accept this.
