Directa Plus takes a step closer to textiles with membrane acquisition

Osmotek was founded by Novaresin, a large Italian membrane producer, in 2015. Novaresin has a factory located in the north of Italy that is capable of producing 7 million metres of fabric per annum. It has a wide range of textile products and is a specialist in lamination of textile membranes.
The Novaresin product range will now include a new collection of graphene-enhanced membranes for textile applications, which have been developed in conjunction with Directa Plus over the last year. Directa Plus has said graphene-enhanced textile membranes will provide additional properties to the end fabric, such as electrical and thermal conductivity, bacteriostatic characteristics and abrasion resistance.
Directa Textile Solutions will now promote and distribute its graphene-enhanced membrane products to textile brands and end clients.
Chief executive, Giulio Cesareo, said on announcing the acquisition that he believes this development will make it easier for Directa Plus to take its story to major brands and provide a product that meets their exact needs, as well as pursuing his own company’s ingredient branding strategy.
“The market for smart textiles is vast,” he added. “By partnering with a leading producer of textile membranes, Novaresin, with whom we have been working closely over the last year to develop graphene-enhanced textile membranes that are already being tested by a range of potential customers, we are strengthening our ability to target this key segment.”
