Troubled BLK sold to overseas investors

27/01/2017
A consortium led by an East Timor-based oil and energy company has completed the acquisition of Queensland-based sports brand BLK, according to reports in the Australian media.

The brand, which has supplied kit for several clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL), went into receivership in November 2016 following the collapse of its parent company World Rugby Specialists.

The company’s new owners, Esperança Timor Oan (ETO), said the acquisition was part of a strategy to expand beyond the energy sector. It was joined in the deal by a group of Fiji-based investors.

The current BLK executive team and senior management will remain at the company. This includes Tyron Brant, who has been chief executive since 2014.
