New man takes the reigns at Alpargatas Argentina

Brazilian casual footwear manufacturer Alpargatas has named Diego Mohadeb as the new CEO of its Argentinian division.

He takes over from Javier Goñi, who stepped down from the position after nine years due to personal reasons.

The change comes against a challenging backdrop for Alpargatas Argentina, after it was forced to close two of its factories in the country. The facilities in Buenos Aires and San Luis were closed in January, resulting in the loss of 170 jobs. It provoked action from the Argentinian government, which is working to reemploy these workers.

Mr Mohadeb joined Alpargatas Argentina in 2009 as marketing director. He then progressed to the position of director of marketing and sales. Prior to that he spent more than five years at Unilever.
He will be responsible for overseeing the remaining seven manufacturing facilities that Alpargatas operates in Argentina, five of which are dedicated to footwear.
