Alpargatas sees increase in profit despite sales dip

Casual footwear manufacturer Alpargatas saw an 18.7% drop in sales during the first quarter of 2017. Total revenue for the period was €230.6 million.

In Brazil, the company’s domestic market, revenue was down 16.8% to €133.1 million, while in Argentina, where it was founded, sales fell 22.1% to €44 million. International sales were down 20.5%.

Despite this dip in sales, Alpargatas saw its net profit jump 62% to €51.3 million.
