Adidas has no plans to sell Reebok

The CEO of sportswear brand Adidas, Kasper Rorsted, has insisted the company is “still confident of the strategic position” of its Reebok brand.

He was responding to concerns about Reebok from shareholders at Adidas’ annual meeting.

“We are not going to sell Reebok,” he said. “We are convinced the measures we are taking are going to be successful.”

Mr Rorsted announced an extensive restructuring of Reebok shortly after taking over from Herbert Hainer as Adidas CEO in October 2016. Among the measures was an acceleration of the closures of Reebok outlet stores in the US. There are also plans for a new Reebok headquarters in Boston, which is seen as an attempt to separate the brand from the Adidas brand. It is expected to be completed in Autumn 2017.
