Consumer product group Newell Brands has agreed to sell its winter sports brands to private equity firm Kohlberg & Company.

The deal includes ski brands Völkl and K2, but outdoor brand Marmot will remain part of the group.

The total value of the deal is $240 million and it is expected to be completed late in the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2017, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.

Newell explained that the sale is part of its “ongoing strategy to accelerate growth by simplifying and strengthening our portfolio”.
