VTT announces expansion

01/06/2017
Finnish technical research centre VTT  has announced an expansion of its facility in Espoo, which has been at the heart of a number of recent green chemistry and textile projects.

The centre, which VTT calls Bioruukki, has worked on ways of using biomass for fibre production and on the recycling of cellulose-based textile fibres. It will now open its doors to companies and other research organisations seeking ways of taking new ideas towards industrial-scale production.

On announcing the expansion, VTT said: “The world markets for bio-economy and circular economy products and technologies are in strong growth, and VTT wants to offer its partners an environment and its expertise for the development of new competitive products and processes.” It went on to say that the Espoo research centre will become “a globally unique technology and business hub”.
