Stingbye launches anti-insect T-shirts
14/06/2017
The T-shirts are made from fabric composed of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. The fabric comes pre-treated with permethrin to prevent insects from biting or stinging the wearer. The garments can act as a barrier to mosquitoes, lice, bedbugs, ticks and other insects and, therefore, can help prevent diseases including dengue fever, yellow fever or Zika.
According to Stingbye, its method produces a protective finish that is odourless and will last for up to 100 washes.
Last year, the company used the same method to bring out hair ties that can protect children’s hair from nits and lice. General manager, Silvia Oviedo, said at the time that Stingbye had identified a gap in the market for a product like this that can “save a lot of headaches for parents and for children”.
