A novel solution to ward off mosquitos, BugsUnot is described as an all natural “insect deterrent treatment” that is made without permethrin or other harmful chemicals. The topical finish is said to last 30 washes, and can be boosted to resist 50+home launderings, Julie Brown, company manager told Sportstextiles. 

BugsUnot prevents mosquitos from biting and even landing on skin, which is how the WHO assesses mosquito-repellency, she said. “People don’t know that textiles can help deter mosquitos, they mainly think of spray solutions.”

The company is developing a wider offering with different formulations that can deter mosquitos, or mosquitos and ticks. A tick specific solution is currently in development.
