Nike could do online deal with Amazon

Sports brand Nike could soon start selling its products directly on Amazon.com, according to a report from Reuters. It quoted finance company Goldman Sachs as saying such a move could increase Nike’s revenue in the US by between $300 million and $500 million.

Commentators have said that a formal partnership with Nike would encourage Amazon to take a stronger line on controlling sellers who offer fake products on its online marketplace.

What Reuters described as “weeding out” third-party sellers trading discounted Nike inventory on Amazon would increase the brand’s chances of selling full-price product to Amazon shoppers.
