Adidas creates shoes based on all 50 US states

The designers were recruited by fashion website Refinery29, with each one creating a number of shoes.
The shoes were inspired by the culture, landscape, landmarks and cuisine of the individual state. The design for New Jersey (pictured) was inspired by pepperoni pizza, a staple of the local diet.
All the artists had to base their design on a standard white Adidas UltraBoost X running sneaker. Among the materials they used to add colour and flair were sand, acrylic paint, thread, beading and clay.
The sneakers were made available by silent digital auction. Adidas said 100% of the funds raised would be donated to Women Win, an organisation that works to empower girls through sport.
