Patagonia urges customers to support grassroots organisations

24/11/2017
After donating all the proceeds from its sales on Black Friday in 2016 to grassroots environmental organisations, outdoor brand Patagonia is using this year’s post-Thanksgiving Day shopping blitz as an opportunity to appeal to its customers to support these organisations directly.

In 2016, the $10 million revenue the brand made on Black Friday was donated to non-profit organisations that tackle issues related to the environment. This year’s Black Friday takes place on November 24.

Patagonia has launched a tool on its website that allows customers to locate nearby non-profit groups which have benefited from a Patagonia Grassroots Grant. It explains that many of these are small, community-based organisations and has urged its customers to reach out to them and get involved with the important work they do.

The tool can be accessed on the Patagonia website here.

Since 1985, Patagonia has pledge to donate 1% of all sales to non-profit environmental groups. It has so far donated $74 million to thousands of organisations working in local communities around the world.
