DuPont and Tate & Lyle announce bio-based 1,3-propanediol expansion

07/03/2018
DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products is to increase annual production at its plant in Louden, Tennessee of bio-based 1.3-propanediol.

The plant runs a proprietary process that uses plant-based feedstocks to produce bio-based 1,3-propanediol, which the joint venture supplies to a wide variety of markets and applications through bio-based performance brands including Susterra and Bio-PDO, the key ingredient for DuPont Sorona high-performance polymers.

Expansion at the plant will begin immediately and production of the building block for polymers will increase by around 160 kilotonnes per year. Joint venture partners, DuPont and Tate & Lyle, have said they expect the project to be complete by mid-2019.
