DuPont and Unifi combine to ‘elevate’ insulation

DuPont Biomaterials and Unifi have teamed up to create a new range of insulation products, which the companies are displaying at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver (June 18-20).

The products, to be marketed under the name ECOLoft eco-elite, feature DuPont’s Sorona bio-based fibre and Unifi’s Repreve recycled polyester. The other partner in this project is South Korea-based textile and apparel manufacturer Youngone Corporation.

There are three products in the collection, which contain different quantities of Sorona and Repreve depending on their intended application. The companies have said all three “provide lightweight breathable warmth with unique softness and shape retention”.

“This ECOLoft collection will elevate sustainable, high-performance insulation solutions for the outdoor market and offer brands a versatile option for cold-weather products,” said Renee Henze, global marketing director for DuPont Biomaterials.

For her part, Meredith Boyd, vice president of global innovations for Unifi, said collaborations such as this one with DuPont “can drive textile innovation and help revolutionise the future of our industry”.
