05/02/2019
The company unveiled its Champions of Sustainability awards in 2018. This year it is recognising a total of 68 companies, 36% more than last year’s number. They include 28 brand and retail partners that have each used the equivalent of 10 million or more bottles, and 29 textile partners that have each used the equivalent of 50 million or more bottles.
“The Repreve Champions of Sustainability awards highlight our brand, retailer and textile partners that are committed to a better tomorrow through their use of Repreve recycled performance fibres,” said Kevin Hall, Unifi’s CEO.
He highlighted Nike, Target and Polartec as partners that have recycled the equivalent of more than a billion bottles each. Other partners to have reached important milestones include adidas, Hanesbrands, Under Armour and Volcom.
Unifi has also recognised some special category award winners. They are as follows:
• Repreve Partners in Innovation: Ikea Range & Supply and KIPAS;
• Repreve Circular Economy: League Apparel and General Motors;
• Repreve Newcomer: Inditex, Lovesac and New Balance;
• Repreve All-In: Sherpani and American Flora.
“Together with our partners we can achieve our sustainability goals and make a real difference in the textile industry as a whole,” Mr Hall said. “We’re on track to reach our goal of recycling 20 billion bottles by 2020 and 30 billion by 2022.”
