It said it wanted to reposition its performance technologies to be “benefit focused”, saying this will make it easier for its customers to select the properties that are most important in their particular markets. In faithfulness to the theme, it is using ‘Tru’ as a tag for each technology.
Examples include TruTemp365, for high-tech fibres for fabric that can provide year-round comfort in warm or cool weather, and TruDry, for breathable, moisture-wicking fibre technology to help keep fabrics cool, dry and comfortable.
“Consumers want reliable performance that lasts the life of the garment,” said sales vice-president, Jay Hertwig, at the time of the announcement. “By offering a wide range of products focused on benefits, we can help our customers create innovative fabrics that solve everyday problems and meet and exceed their consumers’ expectations.”
Unifi has already transformed more than 12 billion recycled plastic bottles into Repreve fibres and has set its sights on recycling 30 billion bottles by 2022.
