Unifi names winners of inaugural sustainability awards

29/01/2018
US yarn manufacturer Unifi has recognised some of its brand, textile and retail partners with the announcement of the first recipients of its Repreve Champions of Sustainability awards.

It has launched these awards to celebrate those companies which use its recycled Repreve fibre and which share its commitment to sustainability.

The awards are divided into a number of categories. A total of 25 brand and retail partners that have each used the equivalent of 10 million or more bottles will be recognised, as well as a further 15 textile partners that have each used the equivalent of 50 million or more bottles. These milestones have been achieved through the use of Repreve.

The Repreve Partners in Innovation award recognises companies using Repreve in a way that’s unique to the market; the Repreve Circular Economy award celebrates companies using a closed-loop concept; the Repreve Newcomer award will be given to companies that started using Repreve in the past year; and the Repreve All-In recognises companies that have integrated Repreve into their entire product line.

The first winners were announced at the recent Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver, US (January 25-28). Selected winners are as follows:

Brand and Retailer Bottle Awards: Adidas, H&M, Nike, Polartec, Under Armour and VF Corporation;
Textile Partner Bottle Awards: Burlington, MAS Fabrics, Tuntex;
Repreve Partners in Innovation: Cone Denim, Patagonia;
Repreve Circular Economy: The North Face;
Repreve Newcomer: Downlite, New Era Cap;
