US-based yarn producer Unifi has elected the CEO of PepsiCo North America to its board to help steer it “beyond textile fibres and into numerous sustainable solutions”.

Albert Carey also serves on the board of The Home Depot and The Food Marketing Institute.

Kevin Hall, CEO of Unifi, said: “His addition comes at an excellent time, as we focus on growing Repreve and our innovative product portfolio across multiple markets.”

Unifi also hosted a visit from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, to show him the “economic impact the company is having on the state”.

Mr Hall said: “We want to increase opportunities for North Carolina businesses to turn waste into value, thereby creating new revenue streams while reducing environmental impact.”

The visit included a roundtable discussion featuring Letitia Webster, vice-president of global corporate sustainability for VF Corporation.
