Downlite plans for 2018 winter trade shows

Performance down fill supplier Downlite will use two exhibitions at the start of 2018, the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (January 25-28 in Denver, US) and ISPO (January 28-31 in Munich), to introduce its new down fills and to give updates on its sustainability initiatives.

“Years ago, buyers’ primary concerns when purchasing down and feather for bedding and outdoor gear were that it was clean and delivered to factories on time,” said Chad Altbaier, vice president of Downlite Outdoor. “Today, there are many additional factors involved in the buying decision, such as where and how the down is sourced, a supplier’s stand on environmental and sustainability matters, product innovation and cost. We continually need to be pro-active and rigorously evolve on each of these fronts.”

Among the materials it will display are its 100% recycled Re/charged down, which has been certified against the Textile Exchange’s Global Recycled Standard (GRS), and a down made using Repreve recycled fibres from Unifi.

Downlite will also offer information about its sustainability initiatives, which include an advanced wastewater recovery system that has so far allowed it to recycle 36 million gallons of water, and a composting initiative that prevents waste feathers from being sent to landfill.
