The awards are separated into five categories: Health & Fitness, Outdoor, Snowsports, Urban, and Team & Social Sports.
The winners for 2018 are:
• Health & Fitness: HP - FitStation
A foot-scanning and footwear production system which uses 3D technology to design and create customised shoes. It has been developed by DESMA, HP, Huntsman and other partners.
• Outdoor: Tecnica - Forge S
An adjustable trekking shoe (pictured) which can be adjusted to the needs of the wearer in just 20 minutes thanks to a patented Custom Adaptive Shape (CAS) technology.
• Snowsports: Cime Industries & Capita MFG – FUS3D Technology
A technology developed to revolutionise how skis and snowboards are made. It uses a 3D printing technique called Fused Deposition Modelling to connect a recyclable thermoplastic wall to a product’s wooden core.
• Urban: Livall – Helmetphone BH51M
A smart cycling helmet that allows the wearer to listen to music or make phone calls without using their hands. It is controlled via a button that can be attached to the handlebars on a bike after being paired with a smartphone.
• Team & Social Sports: Select – Maxi Grip
A resin-free handball which still offers excellent grip. It is designed for use by players who are not permitted to use resin, such as children and young handball players, but still require a ball with an adhesive surface.
A separate jury was tasked with selecting the winners of the Eco Responsibility Award. They chose Vaude’s Green Core Concept in the brand category, Röjk Superwear’s Badland Jacket in the apparel category, and Grown’s Ski “MonViso Hemp edition” in the hardgoods category.
