Design award for sustainable Vaude collection

Hannover-based iF International Forum Design has been running the iF Product Design Awards since 1954.
There was a total of 6,402 entries for this year’s competition. A jury of 63 independent experts selected 75 iF Gold Award winners for 2018.
In a statement, the awards jury said: “The Vaude Green Shape Core collection demonstrates that sustainable materials can be both functional and beautiful. Each piece has an unconventionally strong character, adding a twist to outdoor fashion. The choice of materials and colours are excellent.”
Mario Schlegel, head of design for Vaude Sport, said the company was “thrilled” to receive the award, adding that “it shows us that the enormous efforts we put into the Vaude Green Shape Core Collection were absolutely worth it.”
The 19-product collection is designed for use in a wide variety of outdoor activities. Around 90% of the textile materials used to create them are bio-based, recycled or natural materials. Unconventional, renewable raw materials such as cow's milk, wood and castor oil have also been used.
The Green Shape Core collection will be available from August 2018 at selected retailers and in Vaude stores.
