Vaude teams up with Sympatex for new range
01/06/2017
Vaude’s spring/summer 2018 collection will be the first to use a new 100% recycled Sympatex membrane, which was launched at the end of 2016. It is free of PTFE and PFC, and consists of a polyether-esther that represents no health hazard.
The brand will also use a 100% recycled Sympatex lining across its range of shoes for men and women, and they will be treated with a fluorocarbon-free durable water repellent (DWR) coating that has been developed by Sympatex in cooperation with textile chemicals developer Rudolf.
“With our SS 18 collection, we have made a first huge step to become the most sustainable provider of functional outdoor and bike shoes,” said Oliver Korden, head of Vaude’s shoes division.
“We are delighted to be able to take another step together with Vaude, one of the most important pioneers in our industry with regard to sustainability, to further optimise the life cycle assessment for outdoor shoes without any compromises on their function,” added Dr. Rüdiger Fox, CEO of Sympatex.
