Vaude wants transparency throughout supply chain
19/06/2017
Vaude CEO Antje von Dewitz has explained that the company wanted to “create transparency throughout the entire supply chain” through the project.
It worked with external experts on occupational safety, quality management and environmental management to offer a series of training sessions and workshops for workers in Asia. Employees from eight suppliers took part. Vaude also carried out 36 factory visits to develop “tangible improvement measures”.
The company has revealed that due to the voluntary participation of its largest suppliers, the pilot project covered 80% of the primary materials and lining fabrics used in Vaude products.
“Our goal is to roll out the project over the next few years for all material suppliers,” said Ms von Dewitz. “In addition, we want to win over our competitors and industry association so that they’ll work together with us to promote the issue.”
Ms von Dewitz made a week-long trip to Asia at the end of May to assess how successful the project had been and to present all participants with a Vaude Award at an event in Taipei, Taiwan.
