Unifi wants to recycle 30 billion plastic bottles by 2022

To give some idea of the scale of this achievement, it explained that this quantity would be able to fill New York City’s famous Empire State Building 7.2 times. When placed end to end, they would circle the earth more than 50 times, it added.
Unifi wants to build on this success and is aiming to reach the target of 20 billion recycled bottles by 2020 and 30 billion by 2022.
“Reaching 10 billion bottles is an impressive milestone, and by committing to recycle an additional 20 billion by 2022, we will continue to expand our portfolio of Repreve-based performance products," said Kevin Hall, chief executive officer of Unifi.
The company has paid tribute to the brands and retailers that have used Repreve since its launch, saying that its success wouldn’t have been possible without their commitment to manufacturing sustainable products.
In order to recognise the work of its partners, it is launching the Repreve Champions of Sustainability Awards. The first winners of this award will be unveiled at the 2018 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in January 2018.
