Unifi’s Repreve fibre to be used in NBA caps

US headwear brand New Era will use Repreve recycled fibres from yarn manufacturer Unifi in a range of team-licensed caps for franchises from the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Each cap will be made using material from four recycled plastic bottles. New Era will launch them exclusively with NBA side the Portland Trail Blazers. 

“Unifi is proud to be associated with New Era Cap through its officially licensed hats for the Trail Blazers, and we look forward to potential future collaborations,” said Jay Hertwig, vice president of global brand sales, marketing and product development for Unifi. 

The partnership with New Era builds on an initiative that Unifi announced in February 2017. It saw the company partner with seven professional US sports teams, including the Trail Blazers, to encourage the public to think more about their impact on the environment.
