Sports sock brand to use recycled fibre from Unifi

DeFeet, a US-based producer of socks and apparel for cyclists, is to use fabrics from Yarn manufacturer Unifi in a variety of its products.

It will incorporate Unifi’s Repreve fibre, which is made from 100% recycled materials, including plastic water bottles. This will be combined with the Sorbtek yarn, which offers moisture management and cooling properties.

“Our athletes have given the new fibre a unanimous ‘thumbs up’, but the more important fact is that it is a recycled yarn,” said Shane Cooper, founder of DeFeet. “Our lab tests are showing the best wicking performance we have ever seen, and it’s from a recycled product.”
