Unifi to focus on innovation and sustainability

09/08/2018
US fibre manufacturer Unifi has reported net sales of $678.9 million for the 12 months ended June 24, an increase of 4.9% compared to the same period of last year.

This result was built on strong performance in the fourth quarter of the year, during which its sales increased 5.9% to $181.3 million. This was driven by 16% growth in revenue from premium value-added (PVA) products, which represented around 45% of consolidated net sales in the quarter.

The company’s net income for the year was $31.7 million, compared to $32.9 million for fiscal 2017.

Of the results, Kevin Hall, chairman and CEO of Unifi, said: "While navigating ongoing pressure from higher raw material costs, we capitalised on increased demand from brands and retailers for our innovative PVA offerings, including Repreve."

He added that the company is excited about the opportunities ahead, as it continues to focus its core strategy on innovation and sustainability.
