Sorona fabrics offer blank canvas for Central Saint Martins
Undergraduates at Central Saint Martins (CSM) in London, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion schools, will develop a collection based on Sorona as part of a sponsorship with DuPont Biomaterials.
The partially bio-based material will form the basis of designs at the annual White Show, which encourages a focus on shapes and silhouettes rather than colour.
Hao Ding, business manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa for DuPont Biomaterials, will educate the students on Sorona’s stretchability, recovery and wrinkle-resistance properties.
Course leader Sarah Gresty said: “We are keen for the students to learn about circularity in fashion and manufacturers who are developing sustainable fabrics and methods of producing them.
“Having this opportunity as first years will have a lasting impact and encourage the students to inform themselves and make responsible choices moving forward in their creative practice.”
