Also by the end of 2017 it had sold around 15,000 metres of fabrics enhanced with its G+ technology. It released the details while reporting its annual results for 2017.
Directa Plus said on making the announcement that it believes its contract with workwear provider Alfredo Grassi represents “the largest amount of textile material to be treated with graphene nanoplatelets by any company to date”.
At the same time, sports brand Colmar, a very early adopter of graphene-enhanced textiles in its ski and golf clothing, expanded its G+ collection to 16 garments incorporating G+ in 2017 and will have a new winter collection of 31 garments before the end of 2018.
Chief executive, Giulio Cesareo, said: “We are pleased to report a return to revenue growth, driven by increased sales of our graphene-based products, particularly in the textiles market. Our focus in 2017 was to concentrate on near-term opportunities in the textiles and environmental markets and we made significant progress in this. We believe that we have established at least an 18-24 month lead over our competitors, based on our proprietary chemical-free manufacturing process and significant customer engagement.”
