New Thermore product scores impressive result in fill power tests

On introducing the product, Thermore said 80% of cold-weather outdoor clothing is insulated with feathers and pointed out that this has traditionally been because of the lack of a synthetic solution that can provide the same look and loft as natural down.
It argued that Ecodown Fibers, which is made from recycled PET bottles and is, like down, blowable into a garment, can “take the first step” towards bridging the gap.
Tests have shown the product to have a fill power of more than 600, which represents a high volume of fibres after blowing and gives jackets and other garments a “puffy” look. Moreover, Thermore said the insulation material shows a high level of durability because its structure allows high resistance and prevents it from clumping inside the garment (see image).
