A Chinese consortium involving sports group Anta is attempting to acquire Amer Sports, the Finnish group has confirmed. Amer Sports is the parent company of Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson, Peak Performance, Atomic, Mavic, Suunto and Precor.

Amer said in a statement that Hong Kong-based private investment group FountainVest Partners has joined forces with Anta to carry out the acquisition, offering Amer shareholders €40 per share. This represents a premium of around 17% on the current share price, but news of interest from China has pushed the Amer share price to around €34, its highest level in the last five years.

The Finnish group commented: “At this time, Amer Sports is not engaged in any negotiations with the consortium and has made no decisions in respect of the indication of interest.”
