Chip Wilson, the founder of Canada-based yogawear brand Lululemon, is close to joining a consortium bidding to acquire Finish sportswear group Amer Sports, according to Bloomberg.

The Chinese consortium is led by sports group Anta and also includes Hong Kong-based private investment group FountainVest Partners. Internet giant Tencent Holdings is also said to be interested in joining the negotiations.

Quoting people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg said Mr Wilson is in talks to take around a 20% stake as part of his involvement.

He founded Lululemon in 1998 but left the company’s board in February 2015 after disagreements with fellow directors.
