Finnish group Amer Sports, which is the subject of a take-over attempt by Chinese investors, including sports group Anta, has reported net sales of nearly €2.7 billion in 2018, an increase of 7% in local currencies compared to the previous year.

The group’s apparel division grew 41%, driven by the acquisition of Stockholm-based outdoor brand Peak Performance in April 2018. Geographical growth was driven by China (+16%) and the US (+10%).

Discussing the results, Amer Sports president and CEO Heikki Takala, said apparel is now the group’s largest business area, overtaking softgoods.

The Anta-led consortium, known as Mascot, also includes Hong Kong-based private investment group FountainVest Partners, internet giant Tencent Holdings, and Anamered Investments, an investment company owned by the founder of Lululemon, Chip Wilson.

Amer Sports is the parent company of Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson, Peak Performance, Atomic, Mavic, Suunto and Precor.
