Sole and shoemaker Vibram has announced that Fabrizio Gamberini will be the new president of its operations in the United States.

He takes over from Michael Gionfriddo, who has decided to retire as Vibram USA president and CEO effective December 31. 

His departure comes as he celebrates 20 years at the company. He joined in 1998 and has led Vibram USA as president since 2011.

Mr Gamberini will join the company on October 9, although he will work alongside his predecessor until the end of 2018 in order to ensure a smooth transition.

His previous positions include CEO of Geox USA and general manager of Nike.
