Ortovox goes beyond Responsible Wool Standard
Outdoor clothing brand Ortovox has brought two years of preparations to an end and launched its own wool standard.

It spent 24 months holding talks with farmers, suppliers and producers to set up the Ortovox Wool Promise (OWP). It is based on the Responsible Wool Standard but, according to Ortovox, “takes an even more extensive approach”.

OWP focuses on animal welfare, farming practices, land management, slaughter and transport, with more than 60 indicators to be checked regularly by a certified auditor, the company explained on announcing the development.

It is also working on a certified traceability system to make sure only wool from selected farms ends up in Ortovox garments.
